1.6.8. General rules of towage
Always, when it is possible, tow the car so that forward wheels did not concern the earth. The car can be lifted behind and to move it in situation at which it will be possible to use a forward hitch. The Audi-80/Audi-80 Quattro models, the Audi-90/Audi-90 Quattro and Audi-Kupe it is impossible to tow by means of the ordinary equipment with banding chains or the low-frame trailer. At towage with use of such equipment the bumper and a body of the car will be damaged. If it is necessary to tow the car with the automatic transmission, it is necessary to lift forward wheels in order that the transmission was not damaged because of a lack of lubricant. If it is necessary to tow the car with the mechanical transmission at the forward or back wheels which are on the earth (model with the all-wheel drive), it is necessary to check that gearbox oil did not proceed, and it was not merged. Speed and the maximum distance at towage For cars with the drive on forward wheels At towage do not exceed speed in 80 km/h and do not tow the car one distance bigger, than 80 km. For cars with the four-wheel drive At towage do not exceed speed in 50 km/h and do not tow the car one distance bigger, than 50 km. Prevention Forward hitch Establish safety belts Install safety chains on the lower levers of a suspension bracket. The gap at towage has to be 155–310 mm between tires and the road. Back hitch Install the equipment for raising of wheels on wheels. Establish safety belts. Establish safety chains on the back bridge or a stretcher (on all-wheel drive models). The gap at towage has to be 155–310 mm between tires and the road. The maximum speed and distance at towage For cars with the mechanical transmission: 80 km/h – 80 km For cars with the automatic transmission: 50 km/h – 50 km Audi-80 Quattro/Audi-90 Quattro, Audi-Kupe The procedure of a hitch is similar to the procedure of a hitch for models with the drive on forward wheels. If the car needs to be towed, having lifted forward wheels, blocking of differential has to be turned off in order that back wheels could rotate freely on turns. Do not tow the car with a speed more, than 50 km/h on distance bigger, than 50 km. If you need to transport the car on distance bigger, than 50 km, it it is necessary to do, having installed the car on the low-frame cart. Anchor points Anchor points of the car are located in front and under a rear bumper on the right side. At towage, it is necessary to follow rules of towage. |
