Prevention
Washers are established with a preliminary tightness. Do not get burns from the sparks flying when grinding washers. If it is necessary, close the dashboard and a windshield.
The top and lower parts of a casing of a steering column are marked with red points. Always replace a casing of a steering column if the red point is ground off or it was erased. Shaft of a steering column and casing of a steering column, removal / installation

| 1) disconnect a wire of the negative plug of the accumulator |
| 2) remove the lower left part of the dashboard |
| 3) remove a steering wheel |

4) remove the block of switches of a steering column together with the finishing panel |

5) remove screws of fastening of an instrument guard (are specified by shooters) |
| 6) disconnect the connection socket from the ignition lock |
| 7) remove a bolt with a head under a face key |
| 8) you tkrutit a casing of a steering column from a fixing arm |
|
9) remove the lock of a steering column from a steering column (it is specified by an arrow) |
| 10) lower a shaft and a casing of a steering column down so that they could be got from below an instrument guard |

Installation
| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1) insert a shaft of a steering column into a casing |
| 2) insert a steering column into an opening under an instrument guard and lift it |
| 3) put the lock of a steering column on a steering column |
| 4) establish a bolt with a head under a face key (it is specified by an arrow) |
| 5) insert a key into the ignition lock |
| 6) unlock the lock of a steering column that it was possible to turn a shaft of a steering column |
| 7) establish a bolt of fastening of a steering column |
| 8) connect together the limiter, a tube to flanges and a shaft of a steering column |
| 9) establish a steering column on the center, having moved it up and down on a fixing arm so that the connecting disk (on a tube with flanges) moved freely at rotation of a steering wheel |
| 10) tighten bolts of fastening of a steering column to a fixing arm |
| 11) connect the socket of connection to the ignition lock |
| 12) establish an instrument guard |
| 13) install the block of switches of a steering column |
| 14) establish a steering wheel |
| 15) connect a wire of the negative plug of the accumulator |
| 16) check operation of the block of switches of a steering column |

When wheels stand directly, the crossbeam of a steering wheel has to is in horizontal position.
Prevention
For prevention of injuries or failure of the airbag of safety, dismantling, assembly and service of system of the airbag of safety it has to be carried out only by the qualified mechanic.
Always disconnect power supply from system of a safety cushion when carrying out the repair work including removal of any elements of system of a safety cushion.
Since 1990, all Audi-80/90/cars of Coupet are equipped with the airbag of the safety established on a steering wheel. During the work with the airbag of safety and elements of steering which mention system of a safety cushion it is necessary to observe certain precautionary measures.
Do not try to straighten elements of the mechanism of steering or to carry out on them welding repair work.
Replace everything самоконтрящиеся nuts and bolts.
Since 1990, all Audi-80/90/cars of Coupet are equipped with the power absorbing steering column, and also the safety airbag. |
